Why Cat grooming?

Cats groom themselves, right? Cats are clean, right?

Cats lick themselves.

Cats get greasy.

You may not realize it, but cats get very greasy.

When cats lick themselves they are spreading their saliva, oils that are secreted through their skin, dirt, litter and dandruff all over themselves. Combined with the oils from our hands that are left behind when we pet our feline friends, grease eventually takes over. If you didn't wash your hair for a few years, natural oils would build up over time.

A cat groomer's job is to wash that grease right out of the hair. Keeping the grease away with a good bath, blow dry, and comb-out will do wonders. It is a known fact that after a thorough grooming session the amount of shedding and hairballs is significantly less. This is decidedly more pleasant for you, your home, and your furry friend.

Natural shedding takes place throughout the year and as the hair sheds, the greasiness of it causes it to stick together in a clump. This clump of hair is small at first but grows fast. Very quickly that clump becomes a hard mat which will then expand all over your cat and will have to be shaved off.

When cats go months in-between grooming and get matted, they are susceptible to health issues, blood clots, and even death. Mats are painful as they pull on the skin, and the aftermath of matting can cause severe irritation and damage to the hair follicles. All of this pain and suffering is preventable with a regular grooming schedule.

Preventative care for your feline will keep mats and grease at bay, giving you and your fur baby a stress free and long life together! Contact Classy Claws Grooming Today!
